As part of its commitment to financial empowerment, FNB runs a series of educational campaigns aimed at equipping consumers with real-world knowledge. Among the most urgent of these is helping customers spot and avoid financial fraud, from phishing and smishing to courier scams and social engineering.

In a world flooded with alerts and fine print, the challenge was clear: How do you get people to not only understand these messages, but actually see and remember them?

Breaking Through the Noise

Circle was briefed to refresh the campaign’s visual identity and tone of voice, with the goal of standing out in a crowded digital landscape while maintaining credibility and brand trust.

Key creative strategies included:
  1. Bold, Minimalist Visuals. We developed a set of custom icons and illustrations, simple yet striking, that depict the most common types of fraud. This visual shorthand makes the content quickly scannable, instantly understandable, and easy to remember.
  2. Sleek Colour Palette. The base palette is bold black, punctuated by sharp pops of FNB’s iconic teal and amber, creating a high-contrast aesthetic that separates the campaign from both internal and competitor communications.
  3. Clear, Human Language. We stripped away technical jargon in favour of plain, accessible language, ensuring messages landed clearly across all levels of financial literacy. Whether you’re a first-time app user or seasoned investor, you’ll get the message.
  4. The Unifying Message: “Think Twice”. This recurring line sits at the heart of the campaign. Simple. Memorable. Actionable. It prompts users to pause and reflect before clicking links, sharing information, or handing over control, helping to create safer digital behaviours in a world of increasing threats.

The refreshed fraud awareness campaign gives FNB a credible, consumer-first voice in the digital safety conversation. It educates without overwhelming. It engages without lecturing. It helps customers navigate their finances with more confidence, clarity, and caution.
