Brand development and visual language for luxury accommodation in the Kruger National Park.
Inspired by Shalati; an African warrior queen, this unique train hotel forms part of a tourism campaign to revive the rich history of the national park.
2019 will see the launch of Kruger Shalati: The Train on the Bridge, a new iconic accommodation offering in the renowned Kruger National Park. Inspired by Shalati; an African warrior queen, this unique train hotel forms part of a tourism campaign to revive the rich history of the national park.
Kruger Shalati will be stationed on the Selati Bridge, along the historic Selati railway line above the Sabie River. Discerning travellers will be offered a one-of-a-kind experience with luxury accommodation in a re-envisioned train, which will pay homage to the first guests who explored the park nearly 100 years ago, guided by James Stevenson-Hamilton. With a strong passion for community upliftment, Kruger Shalati will support local talents and craftsmen throughout its development.
Circle’s challenge was to create a visual language that enables Kruger Shalati to pay tribute to this significant piece of southern African history and nostalgia in a contemporary way. With the bridge being the focal point of the experience, its shape, pillars, colours and its surrounding environment inspired the identity, patterns and colour palette. The geometric lines in the brandmark are reminiscent of the Selati Bridge, with the word ‘Kruger’ being a metaphor for the train carriages and the word ‘Shalati’ is symbolic of the bridge piers.
Circle’s aim was to provide a visual language which will continue to assist Kruger Shalati in welcoming each guest on a journey of discovery with nature in the most extraordinary way imaginable.
