As part of Sun International’s strategic vision to bring its food and beverage offering in-house, Circle was tasked with the brand development of a high-end grillhouse experience within the iconic Main Hotel at Sun City.
The brief was clear: craft a premium dining destination that pays homage to the legends who have graced Sun City’s stages and spaces over the decades, world-famous entertainers, performers, and public figures whose stories have become part of the resort’s heritage.
Naming That Evokes Legacy
The name Legends was intentionally chosen by Circle to capture the essence of nostalgia and reverence. It signals an immediate emotional connection to the iconic personalities who made Sun City a global entertainment destination. It’s more than a restaurant name, it’s a narrative anchor that celebrates showmanship, legacy, and glamour.
Brand Identity Inspired by the Stage
The visual identity is rooted in the language of show business, specifically the marquee letterforms synonymous with old Hollywood and live entertainment. These illuminated letterforms are bold, theatrical, and iconic, perfectly aligning with the brand’s high-energy and high-style DNA.
To deepen authenticity, actual celebrity signatures were incorporated into the visual language. These elements serve not only as decorative features but as powerful reminders of the stars who have shaped Sun City’s legendary status.
Visual Language That Lives On-Site
Circle extended this visual language across all branded environments and collateral:
- Interior artwork featuring layered references to vintage memorabilia and celebrity moments.
- Signage and wayfinding that integrates marquee lighting with signature detailing.
- Uniforms, menus, bill folders, and more, designed to reflect the sophisticated, nostalgic tone of the brand.
The result is a space that feels like a performance, each visit to Legends is a moment in the spotlight for its guests.
